Be the expert they find, the one they turn to and the one they remember.
If organic content is one of your main marketing pillars, you probably know what your content should be doing.
The problem is finding the time, the strategy, and consistent execution to make it happen.
Blogs left half-finished on your Google Drive. Email newsletters that keep getting pushed back. The business LinkedIn page that isn't updated for six weeks.
After two years of providing SEO retainer packages, I've learnt what the majority of my clients truly need: a fully managed organic content function.
They usually want to outsource the entire process; strategy, planning, execution, scheduling and publishing by someone who undertstands what their prospects are thinking and searching at every stage of the buying process. All they have to do is review content and give feedback.
What is an organic content retainer?
A content retainer is an ongoing arrangement where your content function is handed off completely to an external partner. So this is slightly different to hiring a copywriter who will send you written content in a Google Doc. This service also inludes the strategy, the SEO and AI visibility research, the content planning, the publishing, and the reporting.
It's particularly popular with businesses with stretched marketing teams or businesses without a marketing team. That said, if you want to invest in organic online growth, this service is probably for you.
Having to plan, strategise, write, and publish high-quality organic content consistently is a lot to manage. And when you have a team with other priorities, it's a lot to put on them. This service frees your team of that extra burden.
My approach to organic and SEO content is designed around. The Human Signal, a seven-stage framework I created myself to map the full psychology of the B2B buyer journey. Content is so much more than a keyword list. It should be built around what your audience is thinking, searching, and deciding at every point between first awareness and final action.
How the retainer works
From experience, I've found organic content retainers to work best by:
Starting each quarter with a content plan mapped to your audience's search behaviour, their buying psychology, and your commercial priorities. My methodology follows the very best practices in SEO/ GEO in 2026.
From there, content is written and uploaded into your CMS/ CRM on a rolling schedule. I'll visually format content in alignment with any design templates or style guides you have. If don't have these, don't worry, I know how to present content professionally and in a way that's optimised for search engines.
Then, I'll notify you that the content is ready for your review and feedback. I'll make sure you have sufficient time to review content before it's due to go live.
Every month, you receive a performance report with specific recommendations. At the end of each quarter, performance is reviewed and the next plan is built. That way, we can assess what works, what doesn't and use that data to our advantage in the upcoming quarter.
You get stay in the loop, but well away from the weeds.
What makes this service different from hiring a content writer
When you hire a content writer, it's usually down to you to produce the brief, manage the relationship, handle uploads to your CMS, track performance, and figure out what to commission next. That's not a reduced workload. It's a distributed one.
I prefer to run my retainers as a full function service. You have enough on your plate to worry about managing a freelancer, too.
Strategy and keyword research come first. Content is written with AI citation in mind alongside traditional search, because your buyers are increasingly using tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity to research before they ever reach Google. Every piece is uploaded and scheduled. Performance is tracked and fed back into the next quarter's plan.
Instead of waiting for a professional writer to produce the content before you then have to find the time to publish it and manage the performance, I handle the entire process.
What consistent, strategy-led content does over time...
EPC247 is a Hull-based EPC company. Jack, the director, wanted to grow organic website traffic and give prospects and customers useful, high-quality content to refer to. The website didn't have a blog section, so this seemed like a good place to start.
A year on, it's averaging 200 page views a week across all articles. Website visits are three times what they were this time last year. Every post ranks on search, and the blog is now the primary entry point to the website for new visitors.
Jack jokes that I know more about EPCs than he does. Not only is that a huge compliment, but I enjoy using this example because I feel it demonstrates the level of planning and execution that goes into all of my work.
Retainer packages
Two tiers, designed around the most common content needs of established businesses. If your situation calls for a different mix, that is what the add-on menu is for.
A steady, reliable content engine. Each quarter starts with a content plan built from keyword research and AI visibility analysis. From there, content is produced and published every week. You review and give feedback. Everything else is covered.
Monthly:
2x SEO and GEO-optimised blog posts
4x LinkedIn thought-leadership posts
Uploading and scheduling of all content
Quarterly:
Full SEO content plan based on keyword research, AI visibility analysis, and your commercial priorities
What you hand off: Strategy, research, writing, publishing, scheduling. However, if you do have suggestions and ideas about content topics, I'm all ears!
What you keep: Final approval.
This tier is right for you if your content presence is inconsistent or non-existent, and you need someone to own it completely rather than just execute individual pieces.
This is the complete content operation. Blogs, emails, LinkedIn, website copy, case studies. All of it planned around The Human Signal framework, all of it executed from strategy to publication. Your content works at every stage of the buying journey, from the moment someone first encounters a problem to the moment they decide to act.
Each month, you receive a performance report with specific, commercially grounded recommendations. Each quarter, a pillar page or content hub piece builds lasting topical authority in search and AI systems. Organic content becomes a primary marketing channel to demonstrate your expertise and authority, rather than getting pushed down the to-do list... again.

Why AI visibility is included as standard
Your buyers are probably not only using Google. More and more of us are starting to find solutions to our problems by describing the situation to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Gemini and asking which suppliers or approaches are worth considering.
Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) is the practice of structuring content so it is cited by AI tools, not just ranked by traditional search engines. Having success with GEO is largely covered by a strong SEO strategy, although there are some subtle nuances.
A lot of organic content is written for an outdated approach to SEO. The businesses that have the most success with organic content do not drown their website with mediocre, generic content for the sake of publishing content. They publish authoritative, unique, helpful content that is centred around their target audience. And in doing so, they usually find that their website is well-ranked by search engines and their brand is cited by AI.
Who organic content packages are for
My retainers are designed for established service businesses with a marketing manager or small marketing team who knows what good content should be doing but does not have the capacity to produce it consistently, strategically, or at the volume required.
You are probably in the right place if:
You have a content presence but it is inconsistent, underperforming, or both
You are managing multiple freelancers for different content types and want to consolidate
You want organic content to generate real pipeline, rather than fill a blog archive for the sake of it
You need someone who can think at a strategic level, not just execute a brief
Content keeps getting deprioritised because there is no one accountable for it
This is not the right fit if you are looking for the cheapest way to keep a blog ticking over, or if you want to provide detailed briefs for every piece. The point of my retainers are that you do not have to.
SEO Content FAQs
Retainers run on a three-month or six-month contract. At the end of each contract period, you have the choice for renewing for another three or six months. Rolling monthly contracts are not available.
Why is the minimum perdiod three months? Three months is the point at which a consistent content strategy starts to show meaningful results in search. Shorter commitments produce activity, not outcomes.
Once the service agreement is signed, we'll have a strategy call. This will give me the opportunity to run through everything properly, and I'll ask some questions that will help me with the strategy and content planning. The first quarter's content plan is sent to you for commenting before production begins.
HubSpot, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, and most standard CMS platforms. If you use something less common, it is worth raising on the discovery call. Uploading and scheduling is included in both tiers.
Your involvement is mainly front-loaded. So onboarding takes a little time because getting deep into your business upfront is what makes the ongoing work accurate and autonomous going forward.
After that, your main touchpoint is reviewing and approving the quarterly content plan and individual pieces before they go live. Most retainer clients spend two to three hours a month at most on this.
That is what the add-on menu is for. Both tiers are designed to cover the core content needs of most established businesses. If your situation calls for more volume, additional content types, or specific one-off projects, add-ons can be included in any given month.
Yes. The discovery call is the right place to see relevant examples for your sector and content type. Work samples are shared in context, rather than a generic portfolio, because what matters is whether the approach fits your situation.
How to get started
1. Book a discovery call.
We talk through your business, your current content situation, your goals, and which tier suits each of these. After this, I'll send a bespoke proposal. The discovery call is completely free, and there's absolutely no obligation to go ahead.
2. Complete onboarding.
Once the service agreement is signed, we'll have a strategy call. This is where I get deep into your world before a word is written.
3. Approve your content plan.
Your first quarterly content plan is delivered for sign-off. Once confirmed, production begins.
4. Content is written, formatted and scheduled.
Content is delivered on a rolling schedule, uploaded and scheduled once approved by you.
5. Review and plan the next quarter.
At the end of each quarter, performance is reviewed and the next plan is created. Your content gets sharper with every cycle.
Ready to hand off your content and grow organically online?
Book a discovery call and we will work out which tier fits what you need. You will leave the call with a clear picture of what a retainer would look like for your business, what it would cover, and what it would cost.
